Fatal Auto Pedestrian at 6000 Southwest Freeway February 11, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 6000 block of the Southwest Freeway (Highway 59 South) southbound service road about 12:15 a. m. on Sunday (February 10). The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office. HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Officers J. Lin and A. DeLeon reported: The victim was pushing a shopping cart in the right lane of the Southwest Freeway service road when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene. A vehicle mirror and other debris found at the scene determined the vehicle to possibly be a purple Mazda 626. The investigation is continuing.
