Update on Murder at 4898 West Bellfort

February 11, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of two males and wounding of one other at 4898 West Bellfort about 7 p. m. on Wednesday (February 6).

The suspect, Martin Santoyo (H/m, DOB: 4-13-89), is charged with capital murder in the 184th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Pablo Cayax, 17, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the back and was pronounced dead at the scene, and Roberto Gonzalez, 17, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Marcos Valesco, 18, suffered a gunshot wound to the back but is expected to survive his injuries.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. R. McGalin and Officer D. W. Arnold reported:

Officers responded to a drive-by-shooting call in a shopping center parking lot at 4898 West Bellfort and found Mr. Cayax deceased, inside of a vehicle.

Two other suspects wanted in this case are described as Hispanic males. The first suspect is 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a slim build and a dark complexion. He wears an afro-style haircut and could appear to be African-American. He is known as “Giant.” The second suspect is 5 feet 8 inches tall with collar length “mussy” black hair.

The suspects may be driving a black or burgundy 4-door Honda and frequenting the area of Gasmer Street.
