Fatal Hit-And-Run Accident at 9500 Westpark And Ocee

February 20, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident at 9500 Westpark at Ocee about 5:30 a.m. today.

The victim suffered burns and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant G.T. Hall and Officer D.L. Harwell reported:

A gold Chevrolet Malibu was westbound on Westpark when a red Mercury Tracer left a stop sign at Ocee attempting to turn left onto Westpark. The Malibu struck the Tracer on the driver’s door, causing the Tracer to catch fire. The driver of the Malibu then fled on foot.

There is no description of the suspect at this time.

The investigation is continuing.
