Fatal Shooting Investigation at 1900 Staples

February 29, 2008 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found at 1900 Staples about 7:40 a.m.

The name of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office. He had suffered apparent multiple gunshot wounds.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C.E. Elliott and Officer C.P. Abbondandolo reported:

The victim was found on the side of the road where Staples Street dead ends into railroad tracks. A man who found the body approached a nearby school crossing guard who called 911. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

There was no identification on the victim, described as a 19 to 25-year-old black male. The man was wearing black jeans, a black jacket and white tennis shoes.
