Attempted Capital Murder of Peace Officer at 7950 South Gessner

July 14, 2008 - Houston police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted in the attempted capital murder of an off-duty Fort Bend County Precinct 2 Deputy Constable during an aggravated robbery at 7950 South Gessner about 1 a.m. today (July 14).

The suspect is described only as a black male, in his mid 20s and about 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall. He was wearing a black stocking mask with a black jacket and was armed with a pistol.

Deputy E. K. Duncan, 36, was off-duty when he discharged his service weapon. He was not injured in the incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. J. Brooks and Senior Police Officer M. F. Waters reported:

The suspect entered the CVS Pharmacy at 7950 South Gessner armed with a handgun. Deputy Duncan was a customer and also inside the store. As the suspect fled with an undetermined amount of money, Deputy Duncan identified himself as a police officer and attempted to arrest the suspect. The suspect then shot at Deputy Duncan, who returned fire. The suspect fled on foot and remains at large.

There was no evidence of anyone being injured in this incident.
