Suspect Sought in Fatal Shooting at 2807 Tidewater

June 10, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 2807 Tidewater about 12:05 a.m. on Thursday (June 5).

The suspect, Candy Hill Hughes (b/m, DOB: 10-27-56) is charged with murder in the 230th State District Court. He is wanted for the murder of Micheal Scott, 42, of Houston, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the back, upper chest and left arm. Scott was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A photo of suspect Hughes is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers D. Shorten, S. Straughter, R. Trevino and B. D. Evans reported:

Mr. Scott was visiting a neighbor outside in the driveway of a residence at 2807 Tidewater when Hughes approached him. Hughes called out to Scott, then produced a gun and shot him three times.

A follow up investigation led investigators to identify Hughes as the suspect in this case.
