2nd Update on Aggravated Assault at 5227 Calhoun March 10, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death a female assaulted at 5227 Calhoun about 5:15 p.m. on Sunday (March 2). The suspect, Paul D’Angelo Lavallais (b/m, DOB: 5-20-90), is charged with murder in the 177th State District Court. The victim, Melissa Latrice Spriggs, 27, of 4601 Boicewood, suffered severe head trauma and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition. She was pronounced dead about 5 a.m. on Tuesday (March 4). HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Dillingham and E. Lorenzana reported: Ms. Spriggs suffered a severe head injury during a physical altercation between two groups of people following a minor traffic accident at MacGregor Park. It is unknown at this time what caused her injury. Further investigation identified Lavallais as the main suspect in this case and on Friday (March 7) he was arrested. 2nd Update: VHS |
