Suspect Identified, Charged in Stabbing at 3534 South Richey

The suspect Fermin ZepedaMay 19, 2008 - Houston police have identified and charged a suspect wanted in the stabbing of a man at 3534 South Richey on April 18, 2008.

The suspect, Fermin Zepeda (H/m, DOB: 2-11-73), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 176th State District Court and remains at large.

The victim, Edward Castaneda, 31, suffered stab wounds to his torso and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he remains in poor condition.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J. Rubio and M. McStravick reported:

Mr. Castaneda was at a bar with his girlfriend, and after having a disagreement with her, was leaving the business. As Castaneda walked outside, accompanied by a female friend, he shouted an unwelcome remark at his girlfriend, who now was also standing outside with a female friend as well. Zepeda, who was near the location heard the remark shouted by Castaneda and confronted him in an aggressive manner, and asked if Castaneda was talking about his sister. Zepeda appeared to be related to the female friend accompanying Castaneda’s girlfriend.

Zepeda, along with two other males, began to assault Castaneda in the parking lot but fled when Castaneda’s cousin came outside to help.

Zepeda’s vehicle is described as a green 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe.
