Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at 3800 Newcastle

October 13, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a motorist arrested in a fatal traffic accident in the 3800 block of Newcastle about 3 a.m. on Saturday (Oct. 11).

Ramiro Flores (H/m, DOB: 12-25-80) is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 262nd State District Court for his role in the death of a passenger, Robert Curtis Williams, 35, of Pearland.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Morgan and Officer D. Hall reported:

Flores was driving a white Ford Expedition south on Newcastle when it left the roadway and struck a tree. Flores told investigators he had fallen asleep. His driver’s airbag deployed and saved him from serious injury. A backseat passenger, Mr. Williams, was found unresponsive and transported by paramedics to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Flores was treated for his minor injuries at the scene and then taken into custody.
