Suspect Arrested in Fatal Stabbing at 1009 Enid

October 13, 2008 - Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a female at 1009 Enid about 9 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 12).

A murder charge is pending against Darwin Dario Melgar (w/m, DOB: 5-5-86) for the killing of his girlfriend, whose identity is pending notification to family members.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Semmelrock and Officer J. Rodriguez reported:

Melgar and the victim were dating and living together. He told investigators his girlfriend had accused him of stealing her cell phone and had slapped and bit him when he did not return it to her. Melgar stated he grew tired of his girlfriend’s actions and retrieved a large kitchen knife from his cousin’s apartment. He then stabbed the girlfriend multiple times in the chest and fled the scene.

About five hours later, Melgar was seen in the 100 block of Cottage where he was taken into custody without incident.
