Auto-Pedestrian Fatality on Woodridge at Gulf Freeway October 20, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at Woodridge and the Gulf Freeway (Interstate 45 South) service road about 8:35 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 17). The male victim, Santos Velasquez, a pedestrian, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Morgan and Officer A. Alaniz reported: A white commercial bus was traveling eastbound on Woodridge and made a right turn onto the Gulf Freeway southbound service when the driver felt what he described as a bump in the roadway. The bus driver immediately pulled over and saw he had struck a pedestrian. It is believed neither alcohol nor speed was a factor in this accident and the investigation is continuing. |
