Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting at 715 Quitman

October 21, 2008 - Houston police have arrested a suspect wanted and charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 715 Quitman about 12 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 17).

The suspect, Damien A. Perez (H/m, DOB: 4-27-85) surrendered to police on Sunday (Oct. 19) at HPD Headquarters, 1200 Travis. Perez is charged with murder in the 248th State District Court.

The victim, Reynaldo Sanchez, 59, suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Countryman and J. T. Parker and Senior Police Officers S. Straughter and D. Shorten reported:

Officers responded to a shooting call at 715 Quitman and found Sanchez had been shot. Further investigation determined Perez entered the business armed with an assault type rifle, shot Sanchez and then fled the scene.

Perez was taken into custody and remains in the Harris County Jail.
