Fatality Accident at Mcculloch Circle And Hidalgo

October 24, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at the intersection of McCulloch Circle and Hidalgo about 8 a.m. today.

The victim, a six-year-old boy, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M.W. Bearden and Officer D. Harwell reported:

The child was crossing McCulloch Circle at the pedestrian crosswalk with his mother when, according to a witness, a red Mustang stopped at the stop sign and then drove through the intersection. Both the child and his mother were struck and transported to the hospital.

The driver of the Mustang provided a statement to officers and said the sun was in his eyes and he did not see the child and female crossing the street. No charges have been filed at this time.

The investigation is continuing.
