Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 3701 Mcgowen

October 27, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 3701 McGowen about 6 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 26).

The suspect, Marlon Deundre Gradney (DOB: 4-18-86), is charged with murder in the 337th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Moses Lu-Jamil Scott, 20, of Houston. Mr. Scott suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. M. Cegielski and Senior Police Officer B. Nabors reported:

Patrol officers responded to a shooting call at 3701 McGowen and found Scott at the location. Further investigation and witness statements developed information on the suspect’s identity as well as a suspect vehicle description. A short time later, officers saw a vehicle matching the description and detained Gradney in the 11700 block of Cullen. Gradney was transported to the HPD Homicide Division where he was questioned and confessed to the crime.
