Man Found Dead at 4600 Phlox

September 22, 2008 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man found in the 4600 block of Phlox about 8:55 p.m. on Saturday (September 20).

The victim, Earnest Brooks, 62, of Houston, who suffered multiple broken bones, including a broken neck, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer T. Miller and Officer M. Miller reported:

A passerby found Mr. Brooks deceased in a drainage ditch next to the roadway in the 4600 block of Phlox. HFD personnel then transported him to the hospital. Further investigation determined Brooks had been at a nearby hangout with friends and was on his way home.

An autopsy will be performed by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of Brooks’ death.
