Charges Filed in Fatal Stabbing at 3307 ½ Houston Avenue #10

April 7, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect charged in the stabbing of a man found at 3307 ½ Houston Avenue #10 on Monday (Apr. 6).

The suspect, Jose Antonio Estrada (H/m, DOB: 5-10-73), is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court. The victim, Pedro Cano Rangel, 30, of Houston, suffered apparent stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Dillingham and Senior Officer R. Swainson reported:

On Monday morning, at approximately 4:45 a.m., a Houston Police Department patrol officer saw a Houston Fire Department ambulance crew at 3307 ½ Houston Avenue. The officer stopped to check on the ambulance crew and discovered the victim was dead from an apparent chest wound caused by a sharp instrument.

Further investigation revealed that this incident may have been the result of a domestic dispute. Subsequently investigators were able to identify the suspect, Jose Antonio Estrada. 

At approximately 4 p.m. on Monday (Apr. 6), Estrada was arrested and charged with the murder of Pedro Cano Rangel. The official cause of death is pending an autopsy examination from the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.
