HPD Hosts Health And Safety Seminar For Senior Citizens

April 16, 2009 - Officers with the Houston Police Department’s Community Outreach Unit today teamed up with local organizations to provide Health and Safety information to senior citizens.

The two-hour seminar was held this morning at the Southwest Multi-Service Center at 6400 High Star.  Numerous organizations were on hand to provide health information to seniors and to teach them how to keep from being victimized and where to turn for help should they become crime victims.

The goal of the seminar was twofold: first, to keep senior citizens from becoming victims of identity theft, financial, or violent crime and second, to inform seniors about the services available if they are victimized.

Senior citizens and other community participants were able to have their blood pressure taken, cholesterol screened, and fingerprints taken.
