Fatal Traffic Accident at 6900 Gulf Freeway

April 20, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 6900 block of the Gulf Freeway (Interstate Highway 45 South) mainlanes about 11:10 a.m. today (Apr. 20). 

The victim, identified as Rolf Schuett, 76, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Casares and Officer C. Rooke reported: 

Mr. Schuett was driving a white Ford F-150 pickup truck southbound on the Gulf Freeway when, for some unknown reason, he fell unconscious.  The Ford truck then struck a second vehicle before running into the concrete median.  It is believed Schuett suffered from an existing medical condition. 

The investigation is continuing.
