Fatal Traffic Accident at 2600 North Freeway

August 3, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 2600 block of the North Freeway (Interstate 45 North) about 3:10 a.m. on Sunday (Aug. 2). 

The male victim, 23, a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer J. Lin reported: 

The victim was a passenger in a black Lincoln Navigator that was traveling northbound on the North Freeway when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a middle concrete barrier.  The Navigator then rolled and pinned the victim between the vehicle and the road.  The female driver of the Navigator, three other male passengers, and a female passenger were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital Northwest with minor injuries.  No other vehicles were involved in this incident. 

The investigation is continuing.
