Suspects Arrested Following Incident at 100 Goodson

August 4, 2009 - Charges are pending against two suspects arrested following a traffic stop in which an on-duty Houston police officer discharged his duty weapon at 100 Goodson about 11:10 p.m. on Monday (August 3).

One suspect, Rafielle Tremayne Andrews (b/m, DOB: 8-22-83), faces charges of felony evading arrest and possession of a controlled substance. A second suspect, Terry Dewayne Zone (b/m, DOB: 2-1-71), faces a charge of evading on foot.

Officer A. Robles, who discharged his duty weapon, is assigned to the Gang Division and was sworn in as an officer in November of 2006.  Officer Robles was not injured in this incident.  Officer B. Curtis, sworn in as an officer in January 2006, is also assigned to the Gang Division.  Officer Curtis did not discharge his duty weapon and was not injured in this incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Williams and Officer K. Lopez reported:

Officers Robles and Curtis attempted to stop Andrews’ vehicle for a traffic violation in the 100 block of Goodson.  As officers Robles and Curtis approached both sides of the vehicle and gave verbal commands for the suspects to show their hands, Andrews and Zone made suspicious movements inside the vehicle.  Officer Robles, standing on the passenger side between the vehicle and a fence, heard the engine rev up, feared the vehicle was about to hit him, discharged his duty weapon at least one time and struck the vehicle but not the suspect.  The suspects fled the location, abandoned the vehicle nearby and fled on foot. Both were taken into custody a short time later.

As is customary in officer-involved shootings that occur within the city limits, this case will be investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Division.
