Murder/Suicide Investigation at 7575 Katy Freeway

August 17, 2009 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man and apparent suicide of another at 7575 Katy Freeway about 4:55 a.m. on Friday (Aug. 14).

The victim, David Hampton Ledet, 37, of the above address suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other male, Michael A. Normand, 64, also of the above address, suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N.T. Ruland and Officer B.W. Nabors reported:

Normand was leaving for work early Friday morning when he got into an argument with a security guard over a vehicle that was illegally parked, which woke several neighbors. Mr. Ledet came outside and asked Normand and the security guard to be quiet because his young child was sleeping. Normand argued with Ledet and then went to his residence and retrieved a handgun. When Normand returned, Ledet then reportedly shoved Normand, who then shot Ledet several times. Normand then turned the gun on himself and shot one time. Ledet died at the scene and Normand died a short time later at the hospital.
