Fatal Shooting at 11410 Newbrook Drive

August 28, 2009 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman and apparent suicide of a man at 11410 Newbrook Drive about 9 p.m. on Thursday (Aug. 27).

The female victim, 36, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The deceased male, 38, the husband of the female, suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The identities of both victims are pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. M. Cegielski and Officer J. T. Barringer reported:

The male victim’s father was worried after he had not been able to contact his son or the son’s wife.  The father drove to his son’s residence at 11410 Newbrook Drive, tried to make contact with him, got no answer at the door, and noticed several lights on inside the residence.  The father walked around the house to check, looked through a window, and saw his son lying on the floor.  He then called 9-1-1, entered the residence through a window and found his son and daughter-in-law deceased.  The couple’s two-year-old daughter was found alive and uninjured inside a bedroom and was transported to Texas Children’s Hospital for observation.

It is believed the motive for the shooting was a domestic dispute.
