Fatal Traffic Accident at 9400 Westpark

January 14, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 9400 block of Westpark about 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday (Jan. 13).

The victim, a five-year-old girl, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Officer J. Lin reported:

Witnesses stated a red Toyota Solaris was traveling eastbound on Westpark when it drove into oncoming traffic in the westbound lanes. The Solaris then struck a Toyota 4-Runner with two adult females, and four children inside. One of the females, a backseat passenger, was pregnant. Her child was delivered at Texas Children’s Hospital and is in stable condition. The five-year-old victim was killed and the remaining children, a 12-year-old girl and two six-year-old boys, were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in stable condition. The adult females were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in unknown conditions. The driver of the Solaris and his male passenger were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in unknown conditions.

At this time, charges of intoxication manslaughter are pending against the driver of the Toyota Solaris.
