Officer-Involved Shooting at 11500 Sagedowne

July 27, 2009 - Houston police are investigating an incident in which an on-duty Houston police officer fired his duty weapon at a suspect at 11500 Sagedowne about 1:35 p.m. on Saturday (July 25).

The suspect, described only as a Hispanic male, remains at large.

Officer S. McGee, who discharged his duty weapon, is assigned to the South Patrol Division and was sworn in as an officer in June 2007. Officer McGee was not injured in this incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant E.B. Cisneros and Senior Police Officer D.S. Vasquez reported:

Patrol officers responded to a bank robbery at 11222 South Sam Houston Parkway East. As officers searched for the suspect in an adjacent neighborhood, they received a tip he was hiding under a bridge in the 11300 block of Sageglen. As Officer McGee approached the bridge he observed a male matching the description of the suspect and ordered him to get on the ground. The suspect then stood up and pointed a pistol in Officer McGee's direction. Officer McGee, in fear of his life, fired at least one time at the suspect. The suspect then fled into a nearby drainage pipe and remains at large. At this time it has not been determined if the suspect was hit.
