Suspects Arrested in Robbery at 8920 North Freeway

June 4, 2009 - Houston police have arrested three suspects in the robbery of a tattoo parlor at 8920 North Freeway about 3:30 a.m. on Thursday. 

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. J. Brooks and Senior Police Officer M.F. Waters and HPD Robbery Division Sergeant G.D. Urie reported:

Five black males entered the Aztec Tattoo Parlor and robbed employees and patrons at gunpoint. 

Within minutes, HPD patrol officers located the suspects’ vehicle.  One of the suspects raised a handgun towards Senior Police Officer F.S. Coffman.  Officer Coffman, fearing for his life, fired his duty weapon, missing the suspect.  No officers or suspects were injured.  

Three suspects are in custody with charges pending.  The search continues for the remaining two suspects.  Anyone with information on this case is urged to call HPD’s Robbery Division at 713-308-0700 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Senior Police Officer F.S. Coffman is assigned to North Division and was sworn-in in January, 1980.

As is customary in all officer involved shootings, the shooting is being investigated by HPD’s Homicide Division, Internal Affairs Division and Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
