Fatal Shooting at 900 East 40th 1/2 Street

June 8, 2009 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 900 East 40th ½ Street about 12:10 a.m. today (June 8).

The victim, James Smith Jr., 19, of Houston suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer B. Evans and Officer K. Lopez reported:

Mr. Smith and his wife were visiting McCollough Park at 900 East 40th ½ Street when they were confronted by an unknown individual and shot multiple times. Mr. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene and his wife was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds.

There are no known witnesses or suspects.
