Suspect Arrested in Fatal Traffic Accident On 610 at North Shepherd

June 16, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect involved in a fatal traffic accident on the North Loop West (Interstate Highway 610) main lanes near North Shepherd about 11:10 p.m. on Friday (June 12).

The suspect, Michael Ray Iselt (w/m, DOB: 9-16-69), is charged with failure to stop and render aid in the 339th State District Court.

The female victim, in her late 20s, a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Runyan and Officer S. Johnson reported:

An older model Chevrolet 5500 flatbed truck was disabled and blocked part of a lane on the North Loop West.  A Safe Clear wrecker then pulled behind the disabled truck to shield it from traffic when a silver Toyota sports utility vehicle, driven by Iselt and traveling westbound on the North Loop struck the left rear of the wrecker.  The victim, a passenger in the Toyota, then fell into the roadway.   Iselt then fled the scene and on Saturday (June 13) he was taken into custody and admitted to his role in the accident.
