Second Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting at 1 Goodson

March 2, 2009 - A second suspect has been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 1 Goodson Drive about 10:10 p.m. on December 7, 2008.

Carl Anthony James (b/m, DOB: 11-24-86) was arrested without incident by Fort Bend County Sheriff’s deputies on February 25.  He and Daniel Ramirez (H/m, DOB: 9-28-90) are charged with capital murder in the 179th State District Court.  They are accused in the killing of Juan Castillo Rosales, 35, of Houston.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant P. V. Muñoz and Officer L. R. Leon reported:

Mr. Rosales and his wife drove up to their apartment and were exiting the vehicle when two male suspects approached them.  The suspects then pulled Rosales and his wife from the vehicle and robbed them at gunpoint.  One of the suspects, armed with a shotgun, then shot Rosales in the chest.  Both suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction.  Rosales was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.

Acting on a Crime Stoppers tip, investigators learned the identity of suspect Ramirez and arrested him on January 15.  Investigators obtained crime analysis of a possible suspect committing robberies in the same area and were able to identify James as the second suspect.  A witness positively identified James in the Goodson incident, leading to his arrest.
