Fatal Traffic Accident at 12100 Bellaire Boulevard

March 9, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 12100 Bellaire Boulevard about 10:55 p.m. on Friday (Mar. 6).

The identity of the victim is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Morgan and Officer J. Garcia reported:

A witness saw a red Suzuki motorcycle and an unidentified white car traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Bellaire Blvd.  The witness stated he believed they were racing.  Ahead of them was a Toyota Camry also traveling east on Bellaire, approaching Jetty Lane.  The driver of the Camry attempted to make a right turn from one of the center lanes, when it was struck by the motorcycle that was in the far right lane.  The operator of the motorcycle was thrown from his bike and sustained major head trauma.  A helmet was located at the scene, but it is unknown whether the victim was wearing it.  Neither the driver of the Toyota nor his front passenger was injured.

The investigation is continuing.
