Charges Filed in Fatal Stabbing at 6620 Gessner

March 16, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 6620 Gessner about 3:50 a.m. on Sunday (March 15).    

The suspect, Grace Velancous (H/f, DOB: 8-19-71) is charged with murder in the 179th State District Court. Velancous, who has an alias of Mitzi Blanco, is accused in the killing of Harold Cubides. Cubides suffered a stab wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris and Officer D. Shorten reported: 

Cubides and Velancous had a domestic dispute. The fight turned violent and Velancous took a broken bottle and stabbed Cubides one time in the heart.  Velancous was arrested at the scene and admitted to her role in this incident.
