Fatal Traffic Accident at Highway 6 and Richmond

March 26, 2009 -Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at State Highway 6 and Richmond about 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday (Mar. 25). 

The female victim, 67, a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. T. Hall and Officer A. N. Taylor reported: 

The driver of a Chevrolet Blazer was westbound on Richmond at the intersection of Richmond and stuck in traffic due to unchanging signal lights.  The Blazer then unsafely pulled away from the red light and, as it entered the intersection, was struck on the passenger side by a Mack dump truck traveling southbound on State Highway 6.  The passenger of the Blazer was killed and the driver was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in an unknown condition. 

The investigation is continuing.
