Investigation into Man's Death Following Fire at 9850 Pagewood

March 30, 2009 - Houston police are investigating the death of a man found by firefighters extinguishing a fire at 9850 Pagewood about 6 a.m. today (Mar. 30).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.  He had suffered blunt trauma to his body.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant P. Motard and Senior Police Officer C. Abbondandolo reported:

A man leaving his apartment called 911 to report smoke coming from a neighbor’s townhouse.  HFD firefighters arrived and put out the fire.  They found an adult male on the first floor of the home.  Arson investigators were called to the scene and noted the victim had sustained injuries that were not a result of the fire.

Homicide investigators began a follow-up investigation and, although details of the man’s death are not yet known, believe robbery might be a possible motive in his death.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
