Suspect Arrested in Fatal Stabbing at 1714 Wirt #25

May 19, 2009 - Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a woman at 1714 Wirt #25 some time between 4:45 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. on Sunday (May 17).

The suspect, Harold Chester Amburgey (H/m, DOB: 1-16-61), faces a murder charge.  He is accused in the killing of his girlfriend, Donna Baeza, 48, of Houston.  Ms. Baeza suffered a stab wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant P. V. Munoz and Officer L. R. Leon reported:

Ms. Baeza’s daughter tried calling her about 10 a.m. on Sunday but no one answered.  Later that day, no one answered when Baeza’s daughter knocked on the door.  The daughter called 911 and responding officers entered the apartment to find Baeza dead from a stab wound.

Further investigation identified Amburgey as a suspect in this case and on Monday (May 18), he was taken into custody in the 10600 block of Hempstead Highway without incident.
