May 19, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man at 4100 Juliet on April 13 2008.

The suspect, John Manuel Garcia (H/m, DOB: 7-4-89), is charged with capital murder in the 230th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of Christopher Arevalo, 20, of Houston.  Mr. Arevalo suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Garcia is currently is custody in the Harris County Jail on an unrelated murder charge.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers A. J. Palos and C. T. Hufstedler reported:

A witness stated that Arevalo was standing at 4100 Juliet when a dark colored Dodge truck, possibly blue in color, drove up to the area.  As Arevalo approached the vehicle, the witness heard multiple shots being fired.  The witness went to check on Arevalo and found he had been shot.  The Dodge truck was last seen driving northwest on Juliet towards Broad Street.

An investigation and relatives’ statements determined Arevalo was last seen in his father's 2001 Dodge Ram truck, TX license plates 44N-KC6.  The vehicle was listed as stolen and quickly recovered when HFD was called to a car fire on Inez Street.

Further investigation identified Garcia as the shooter, and on Friday (May 15) he was charged in Arevalo’s murder.
