Results of HPD's Crackdown on Suspected Drunk and Aggressive Drivers

May 20, 2009 - Efforts by Houston police to catch DWI and Aggressive Drivers on the city’s eastside resulted in almost 200 citations being issued on Saturday night (May 16) and Sunday morning (May 17).

HPD’s Traffic Enforcement Division teamed up with Eastside Patrol Division officers to target those dangerous drivers which resulted in seven DWI suspects being jailed and a total of 195 citations being written, including 131 for Aggressive Driving.

“Overall, the program was very successful and something we’ll look into doing more often,” said Lt. Paul Follis, HPD Traffic Enforcement Division.

“HPD is committed to making our streets and freeways safe for the commuting public. Driving while intoxicated is deadly and so is aggressive driving,” said Captain Bruce Williams of the Eastside Patrol Division.  “The partnership between the Traffic Division and Eastside Patrol is a reminder that HPD cares about public safety and will do what it takes to protect the community from these crimes.”
