Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 4321 Reed Road

September 8, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 4321 Reed Road about 12 a. m. on Saturday (Sept. 5).

The suspect, David Cooley (b/m, DOB: 10-21-91), is charged with capital murder in the 337th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of George Ellison, 55, of Houston. Mr. Ellison suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. M. De La Cruz and Senior Police Officer X. E. Avila reported:

Patrol officers heard gunshots and saw two unknown suspects running from the scene. Other patrol officers arrived on the scene and found Mr. Ellison had been shot.

Further investigation identified Cooley as the suspect in this case and later that day (Sept. 5) he was arrested without incident.
