Help Sought in Identifying Suspect in Fatal Stabbing at 8614 Sunmore Court


August 24, 2010 - Houston police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in the fatal stabbing of a man found at 8614 Sunmore Court about 3:25 a.m. on Aug. 17.

The suspect is descrbied only as a black female, 30 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, 160 to 180 pounds with short hair and a medium complexion. She was wearing shorts and carrying a duffle bag.

The victim, Joseph Leroy Davis, 69, of the above address, suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants R. Chandler, T. Hanslik and Senior Police Officers R. Chappell and R. Swainson reported:

Patrol officers responded to the above location regarding a suspicious event and were told by witnesses that a short black female carrying a duffle bag was seen leaving the residence about 2 a.m. After getting no response at the door, officers entered the residence and found Mr. Davis deceased.

Relatives stated several pieces of jewelry were missing from Davis' residence. Among the missing jewelry pieces was a gold watch with a METRO bus on the face and the words "Railroad Approved" above it. A photo of the watch is attached to this news release.
