Investigation into Death at 4262 Childress


December 1, 2010 - Houston police are investigating the apparent suicide of a woman at 4262 Childress about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 30).


The female victim suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital. Her identity and cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Wilson and and Officer P. Vela reported:

The victim's husband returned home from a friend's house several blocks away when he discovered his wife shot in the head in the bedroom with a firearm next to her. The victim was home alone at the time of the shooting. Both the husband and friends of the victim reported she had been depressed the past several months.

The investigation is continuing.
