Investigation Into Male's Death at 61 Riesner


December 9, 2010 - Houston police are investigating the death of a man following an attempted suicide at 61 Riesner Street about 11:40 a.m. on Monday (Dec. 6).


The male, Jose Ahismael Salgado, 28, of Houston, was found unresponsive and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition. Doctors pronounced him dead today (Dec. 9). His cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Brooks and Officer R. Olive reported:

Mr. Salgado attempted to commit suicide by hanging in a cell at the central jail on Dec. 6. Jailers were alerted to the incident, immediately began CPR and called HFD emergency personnel, who then took Salgado to the hospital.

As is customary in HPD in-custody deaths, this case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions.
