December 28, 2010 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident the 5200 block of the Southwest Freeway (U. S. Highway 59 South) about 9:20 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 25).

The male victim, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Shaw and Officer T. Carter reported:

According to witnesses, the victim attempted to cross all northbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway on foot when he was struck by  the right mirror of a gold GMC Envoy.  The driver of the Envoy pulled over as soon as possible.  A second vehicle also possibly struck the victim and pulled over.

Neither driver showed signs of being impaired and no charges have been filed at this time.

The investigation is continuing.
