Suspect Sought in Fatal Traffic Accident at 15900 Eastex Freeway


July 14, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in a fatal traffic accident at 15900 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) service road about 1:30 a.m. on July 9.


The suspect, Sajan Timalshina (w/m, DOB: 7-25-84), is charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter in the 351st State District Court. Timalshina remains at large and is believed to have fled to his home country of Nepal.


Two female victims, Rashaunda Raleigh, 17, of Humble, and Avianca Cortez, 13, of Houston, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third female victim, Detrihanna Davis, 13, of Houston, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she later died.


HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer V. McLean reported:


Timalshina was driving a silver Toyota Camry northbound on the Eastex Freeway service road when he ran a red light at the intersection of the North Sam Houston Parkway service road. The Camry then struck a Ford Expedition traveling eastbound. Three of the Ford's seven passengers (Davis, Raleigh and Cortez) were ejected from the vehicle. An adult female, 40, in the Ford, was transported to Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital with apparent minor injuries. Two other juvenile females, 14 and 16, in the Ford, were transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital with apparent minor injuries. A 32-year-old female also in the Ford was not injured in this incident.
