Investigation into Baby's Death at 3001 Hillcroft


October 8, 2010 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a baby boy found unresponsive at 3001 Hillcroft #503 about 10 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 7).

The victim, Omahni Jayden Omogbeni, 9 months old, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Wilson and Officer T. Andrade reported:

The mother of baby Omahni stated she and the baby began taking a nap in the bedroom of their home about 4 p.m. She told investigators when she awoke at 10 p.m., the baby was at the foot of the bed and being restrained around his neck by the metal framework of the bed. The baby was unconscious and his lips were blue. The mother said she grabbed the baby and drove him toward a hospital when she noticed a security guard pumping gas and asked for his assistance. The guard performed CPR on the baby until paramedics arrived and took the baby to the hospital.

The investigation is continuing.
