Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting at 9718 Galaxy


September 15, 2010 - A suspect wanted and charged in the fatal shooting of a man and the wounding of another at 9718 Galaxy about 6:45 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 10) has been arrested. 

Herbert Goldsmith (b/m, DOB: 11-28-88) was taken into custody on Tuesday (Sept. 14).  Goldsmith is charged with capital murder in the 176th State District Court.  He is accused in the death of Christopher Jones, 29, of the above address, who suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants R. Blain, J. Burton and Officers J. Robles and M. Brady reported:

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the above address and found the victim inside a bedroom.  A second male victim, 27, was found in the kitchen, also suffering a gunshot wound, and was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Further investigation developed information that identified Goldsmith as the suspect and led to his whereabouts.  Goldsmith was arrested following a vehicle pursuit with HPD, Harris County Precinct 3 deputy constables and Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies.   

Further charges against Goldsmith are possible stemming from his involvement in the pursuit.
