Fatal Shooting at 6227 Antha

September 15, 2010 - The fatal shooting of a male at 6227 Antha about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 14) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The male victim suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K.R. Tolls and Officer J.L. French reported:

The homeowner, 90, of the above address, is known in the neighborhood for his generosity and people frequently will ask him for money.

Tuesday evening, the homeowner allowed a male (the victim) into his home.  The male became agitated and grabbed the homeowner’s gun off a shelf.  He pointed the gun at the homeowner, threatened the homeowner and threatened to commit suicide.  The homeowner eventually disarmed the male and demanded he leave.  The male refused to do so, paced around the apartment and then attempted to attack the armed homeowner.  The homeowner, fearing for his life, fired his weapon fatally striking the male.
