Fatal Traffic Accident at 600 West Sam Houston Parkway

April 15, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 600 block of the West Sam Houston Parkway North service road about 8:55 a.m. today.

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verfication by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Chambers and Officer D. Harwell reported:

The victim was driving a grey Toyota Corolla northbound on the West Sam Houston Parkway service road at a high rate of speed when he approached slowed traffic. He then swerved to the right, striking a white Toyota Avalon, and then struck a tree on the shoulder of the road. The impact killed the victim. The driver of the Avalon was not injured.
