Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 11700 Sam Houston Parkway West

August 15, 2011 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 11700 South Sam Houston Parkway West about 2:30 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 13).

The victim, Nathaniel Deron Kelley, 19, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Elsbury and Senior Police Officer R. Martinez reported:

Mr. Kelley and a friend attended a party at the Milan Pavilion at 6303 Harwin where they then got into three arguments with three groups of unknown males in the parking lot.  The friend then drove away, with Kelley riding in the front passenger seat.  The friend traveled southbound on the Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) and then exited onto the South Sam Houston Parkway West.  As the friend exited at the West Airport/South Gessner exit, the rear driver's side door window shattered and Kelley was shot one time in the head.

The friend stated that the three groups of unknown males they had argued with earlier were driving a blue or black Buick, a red Chevrolet Impala or Monte Carlo and a red SUV, possibly a Jeep.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
