August 17, 2011 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man and the wounding of two others in the 3000 block of Truxillo about 1:10 a.m. on August 13.

Walter Hinton (b/m, DOB: 7-12-73) is charged with murder in the 262nd State District Court.  He is accused in the fatal shooting of Robert Jones, 60, of Houston.  Jones suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was pronounced dead at the scene.  A photo of Hinton is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Burton and Officer D. Gunter reported:

Mr. Jones' dog allegedly bit Hinton on his leg during a party at 3008 Truxillo.  Hinton confronted Jones regarding the dog bite and both became involved in a disturbance.  After the disturbance Hinton left the residence and returned a short time later with a pistol.  Hinton began to accost Jones and then fired multiple times, striking the victim and two other males.  The two males were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where one was treated and released and the second underwent surgery for non life-threatening injuries.

Hinton was arrested at a northeast Houston home today (Aug. 17), without incident and charged with murder.
