Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 1100 Tuam

December 19, 2011 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of three persons at 1100 Tuam about 12:45 a.m. on Sunday (Dec. 18).


Raymond Lee Mazon (H/m, DOB: 2-21-85) is charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 184th State District Court. A photo of Mazon is attached to this news release.

Mazon is accused in the shooting of Jacqueline G. Ortiz, 24, Kevin A. Bernard, 28, and Compton L. Coffy, 37. Ortiz was wounded in the hip, Bernard in the chest and Coffy in the leg. All were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with non life-threatening wounds.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Meeler and Officer J. Sosa reported:

Mazon was kicked out of the Link Lounge at 2901 Fannin and was walking down the street in the 1100 block of Tuam when he got into an argument with a group of people. During the argument, Mazon pulled a gun and started shooting.

Officers arrived on the scene and took Mazon into custody.
