Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Female's Death at 7227 Willowtex

February 9, 2011 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a woman found at 7227 Willowtex about 12:15 a.m. on June 14, 2010.


Jessy Lee Zachary (w/m, DOB: 6-9-79) is charged with capital murder in the 208th State District Court for his role in the death of Joyce Cleveland, 78, of the above address. Ms. Cleveland suffered lacerations and blunt trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants E. Cisneros, M. McStravick and Officer W. Ferguson reported:

Ms. Cleveland's neighbor was awakened by barking dogs and saw two unknown male suspects enter Cleveland's residence through the front door. Another neighbor then went and knocked on Cleveland's door and, when no one responded, he called police. Patrol officers responded to the scene, entered the residence, and found Ms. Cleveland deceased on her living room floor.

Further investigation and witness statements identified Zachary as a suspect in the death of Ms. Cleveland. He is currently in custody in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on an unrelated robbery charge.
