January 4, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 7100 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 5:05 a.m. on Sunday (Jan. 2).

The female pedestrian, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Francois and Senior Police Officer B. Banks reported:

The female pedestrian was in a southbound lane of the freeway when she was struck several times by passing vehicles.  One driver stopped and reported the accident to police.

The investigation is continuing.
